Using Hitokey
Hitokey is provided by Hito Inc. By using the app, you agree to these terms. Use only features available in your installed version. If you do not agree, stop using the app. You must have the legal capacity to agree to these terms or use the app with the permission and supervision required by applicable law.
Authorized use
Use Hitokey only with accounts, credentials, devices, and data you own or are authorized to manage. Do not use it for unlawful access, to compromise other people’s security, or to disrupt the app or connected services. You remain responsible for the actions you authorize.
Your devices and recovery material
Keep your devices, account access, setup secrets, and recovery material secure. Maintain independent recovery methods for important accounts. Before replacing or erasing a device, check that your backup and the recovery material needed to restore it are available and usable. Never send secrets, recovery words, QR codes, backup files, or one-time codes to support.
Backups and recovery
Backup and recovery features depend on your version, platform, settings, and storage provider. Where offered, cloud backup is optional and requires the relevant provider account and permissions. A completed upload or file export does not by itself prove you can restore it. Losing a device, backup, encryption key, or recovery phrase can prevent recovery. Hito cannot bypass encryption, reconstruct lost secrets, or guarantee recovery of your accounts or data.
Third-party services
App stores, operating systems, websites, and cloud providers such as Apple or Google operate under their own terms and policies. Their availability, account recovery, storage limits, and permissions can affect Hitokey features. You are responsible for maintaining access to services you choose to use. Hitokey is not endorsed by those providers.
Privacy
Our privacy policy explains how the app and these pages handle information. Consult it before enabling optional features or sharing information with support.
Software and preview builds
These terms do not transfer ownership of Hitokey or third-party software. Any separately supplied software license continues to govern the code it covers. Test and preview builds may contain errors, change, expire, or become unavailable. Do not rely on a preview build as your only way to access an important account.
Availability and responsibility
We work to improve Hitokey, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device or service, or freedom from errors. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the app is provided as available without additional warranties. Nothing in these terms excludes mandatory warranties, consumer remedies, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Stopping use and changes
You may stop using Hitokey at any time. Uninstalling the app does not necessarily delete cloud backups, exported files, or protected system records; manage those copies separately. We may update the app and these terms. Updated terms will appear here with a revised date, and material changes will be communicated where required by law. Changes do not remove rights you already have under applicable law.
